WE ARE PLANNING THE 2023 COLLEGE TOUR

Tentative Date
October 21, 2023 through October 28, 2023

The mission of the College Tour is to expose primarily African-American and Latino high school students to the variety of higher education options offered by historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU) and through campus visitation provide opportunities for students to observe and participate in aspects of college life and interact with admissions personnel.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)

Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) are institutions established prior to 1964 whose principle mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans. HBCUs must be accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency. These institutions continue the mission of serving African-American students while also serving a diverse student population that includes all races and ethnic backgrounds. Most importantly, the HBCU continues to provide enhanced opportunities for academic success. There are approximately 107 HBCUs, located in 21 different states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The 2023 College Tour experiences starts in mid-September with our College Success Workshop Series and culminates with our week long tour of HBCUs starting on October 21, 2023.

For 40 years, the ETL Education Foundation along with the Eta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has held an annual HBCU College Tour Program. Traditionally, the program consists of a series of workshops and activities leading up to a week-long tour of 12-14 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Throughout the years, the organizations' primary concern has been the conducting of safe and academically enriching College Tour activities.
