Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) are institutions established prior to 1964 whose
principle mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans.  HBCU's must be accredited by a nationally
recognized accrediting agency.  These institutions continue the mission of serving African-American
students while also serving a diverse student population that includes all races and ethnic backgrounds.
Most importantly, the HBCU continues to provide enhanced opportunities for academic success.

The 2019 College Tour experiences starts on September 7, 2019 with the first in the
Success Workshop Series.
The mission of the College Tour is to expose primarily African-American and Latino high school students to
the variety of higher education options offered by historically Black colleges and universities, and through
campus visitation provide opportunities for students to observe and participate in aspects of college life
and interact with admissions personnel.
